Hilary Term 2023

OxLWOB started off the new year with a range of exciting events and opportunities!

For the first time since 2018, the Oxford student division took part in Lawyers Without Borders' annual Rule of Law Innovation Challenge, with the team choosing to make an educational resource on upholding the rule of Law in Afghanistan under Taliban rule. At the final event, held at King's College London, our team were awarded an impressive fourth place out of fifteen teams!

We collaborated with Oxford Bar Society to host an advocacy workshop at St. John's College, with Rory Dunlop KC (39 Essex Chambers) and Amanda Weston KC (Garden Court Chambers) delivering an incredibly interesting human rights case study.

Together with the Bonavero Institute for Human Rights and the Oxford Law Mooting Faculty, OxLWOB once again helped to organise the Blackstone Chambers Human Rights Moot. The quality of advocacy was excellent, and we would like to say a huge well-done to everyone involved, as well as good luck to our winning team, who will be representing Oxford at the Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot in Geneva this summer!

For the most up-to-date information on our events and opportunities, be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram!

To ensure as many students as possible hear about our events, we are looking for College Reps!

Your role would be to increase your College's awareness of and involvement with OxLWOB. Fill in the form below and we'll get back to you as soon as possible:

Sponsorship & Collaboration

All of our activities incur us costs which we typically fund through donations from sponsors. We are also always looking to collaborate with law firms and human rights organisations, both to host events and establish longer-term research projects.

Should you be interested in collaborating with us, through sponsorship or otherwise, please contact us via email to communicate with our committee. Our email address is:

OxLWOB Human Rights Blog

As part of our aim to increase engagement with human rights issues here at the University of Oxford, we want to give students the opportunity to write - and read - about a range of human rights issues.

If you'd like to research and write about human rights from a legal perspective, either by writing articles of 500 - 1,000 or by creating social media content on topics that interest you, why not apply to become an OxLWOB Content Creator?

To apply, please send an email with your CV attached to oxlawyerswithoutborders@gmail.com. We're recruiting on a rolling basis and we aim to get back to you as soon as possible after you submit your application.
